East Fayetteville Bypass (Phase I and II)

Fayette County and Mallet Consulting awarded KEA Group the contract for completion of the Ecology Resource Survey, History Resource Survey, and NEPA document for the East Fayetteville Bypass from South Jeff Davis Drive north to SR 85.  The project consists of the widening and reconstruction of existing roadways with approximately one-third of the project on new location alignment.  The study area for the ecological studies was limited to the area within 300 feet of the centerline of the existing roadways and proposed new location alignment.   Ecological studies were carried out utilizing information obtain through office research and pedestrian surveys.  Wetland locations were determined using the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual and streams were identified as jurisdictional if they exhibited a definite channel and showed evidence of water flow at times other than major storm events.  Army Corps of Engineers Jurisdictional Waters identified within the proposed project area includes three perennial streams, one intermittent stream, 13 wetlands and four open waters.  In addition, Georgia Department of Natural Resources jurisdictional waters identified within the proposed project area includes five non-buffered open waters and 19 non-buffered ephemeral streams.
